My first Imperfect Box
To be upfront, Imperfect foods is not a sponsor. I bought this box with my own money, but as a chef, and someone worried about both my budget and excessive food waste, I thought this would be a fun thing to check out.
So this is my first haul. I'm set up for a medium box (2-3 people/week) plus a protein add-on. The protein add-on is pretty obvious, there are Beyond Burger and some smoked salmon.
Additionally, I got:
- 3 small lemons
- 2 zucchini
- 1 head of cabbage
- 2 very large carrots, with the tips broken off
- 6 small, balding onions
- 3 apples
- 2 pears
- 3 avocados
- 3 sweet potatoes
- 3 radishes
- 1 mango
- 1 jar of goat cheese in olive oil, infused with dill
- 1 bag of "Not-Quite-Tri-Color" Quinoa
All the produce is nice and fresh, and since it's been delivered on Wednesday, I made a few awesome dishes. The first night I made a hot quinoa salad with carrots, onions, and avocado. I've also done potatoes and guacamole, and shredded cabbage with apples and radishes, and I still have a few things to finish off the box. I probably won't use everything before the new box arrives this week. But I'll try!
