A Universal Power Supply

After building my C=128 Power Supply, I realized that a lot of the different computers of that era all use the same voltages at about the same amperages. So what if I made a “Universal” power supply for my collection? It could have a single (or even pair) of outputs that have a single type connection, but converts to the correct plugs on the computer’s end.

The hardest part would be finding all the proper connections. Some are easy enough, a 2.5mm barrel jack is easy to come by. The C=128’s 5 pin Square Din? A bit tougher.

Next would be deciding which power rails to supply. Obviously for Commodores I’d need +5VDC, and 9VAC. But with the proper AC/DC Converter I could also supply -5V, +12V, -12V, etc. Where do you draw the line?

What kind of case does that live in? What kind of protection do you build in?

Lots of questions to work out still, but I think it could be a good project.

On a completely unrelated topic… does anyone have a 3D printer I can borrow? 🤣
