What a strange year it has been...

2020 was a strange year for everyone.

I know it was for me.
I had started off the year feeling pretty good, had some serious plans, goals, and an amazing vacation planned out. Obviously things didn't turn out that way.

One of my big goals for the year was to do 20 DJ gigs. 12 of those would quickly be taken up by our monthly Synthwave Night at FreePlay Arcade, so I just needed to do 8 more. Which wasn't an unattainable goal. If I was lucky I would be one of the house DJs for NEON 2020, and with my work with the Goth-Ick/Unscene crew, I'd pull 2-3 more out, leaving me 4 to go hunt down on my own. That would still be 4 more gigs I scored on my own than 2019, so it seemed reasonable. And I know a lot of musicians, so that helps.

One of my other big goals for the year was to restart my podcast, The Synthwave Primer, again. And I kinda did that, I guess. But rather than start season 3, I decided to go to an online stream instead, and did The Synthwave Primer Live on my twitch channel. But with some recent renewed interest, and some backing from my friends, I'll be starting season 3 in January once again. So it's a year behind, but not completely lost.

And then there was Iceland. I had been planning and saving for two years to finally go to a country that will stamp my passport. Fuck COVID.

I did make a lot of content this year, but it's all locked away on my phone for now. I keep saying I need to download it and write up everything and post it. But honestly, I'm not entirely sure that it will ever happen. I do have the next two weeks off, since I have vacation time to burn at my day job, and I had planned to visit family for the rest of the year, so maybe it will finally happen.

I did build a deck, and get some of the improvements done to my woodworking shop that I needed. Even made some pretty things this year and some custom furniture. Guess I should post up about that too.

I had contemplated back-dating those posts, but I think what I'll do instead is to post them in their time as I write them, and start it with what date I would have posted them if I wasn't fighting depression all year.
